Lymphatic System Care

The lymphatic system is part of the vascular system in the body, it is a large system of lymphatic vessels located right beneath the skins surface that carry a fluid called lymph.

The vessels are connected to lymph nodes, where the lymph is filtered.

This fluid contains infection-fighting white blood cells, it removes unwanted toxins, waste and fats that are circulated away from the digestive system.

1/3 of all lymph clusters are located in your neck.

Tonsils, adenoids, spleen and thymus are all part of the lymphatic system

The spleen is the largest lymphatic organ and acts as a blood purifier.

The lymphatic system drains all excess fluid or lymph that leaks out of your blood vessels into your tissues.

Most of the lymph flows up against gravity, towards your neck so the lymphatic system must rely primarily on the body’s musculoskeletal system to circulate.

Through movement and muscle contraction the lymph fluid is able to circulate and do the immune work it needs to prevent disease.

Treatment

Move your body

Lymph vessels are activated when you move your body. All exercise and any activity that moves your arms legs and torso will help to move lymph.

Deep breathing from your diaphragm, focusing on deep inhalation through your nose from leading your lower ribs (which stimulates the thoracic duct to drain 75% of the body’s lymph) and exhaling out of your mouth.

I have done a couple of Dr Perry Nickelston’s courses and followed his work for years now (will continue to do more)

He is the founder of the Big 6 Lymph Mojo

‘If the body can’t rid of cellular waste during the healing process, the inflammation simply stays in the tissues causing pain. If waste can’t get out of the body, you can’t get better. The cells of your body are literally living in their own metabolic waste.’

Supporting Your Lymphatic System

As a chiropractor, I’m very aware that no system works alone. Your lymphatic system is well worth spending time on — especially alongside supporting your nervous system through chiropractic care.

Face Massage

A form of movement to increase circulation and help move lymph fluid away from the face toward lymph nodes for drainage.

Cranial Bones

Cranial bones also play a role, as restrictions can contribute to stagnant fluid (more on this to come).
